Words lie but energy doesn’t. From my experience in the spiritual space, I’ve learned to be more guarded with my energy. Not because I’m better than anyone, not because I need to make a statement, not because I want to necessarily (even though sometimes, yes that is it) but because I have to. I want to discuss how you can spot the opponent in spirituality based off experiences I’ve had.
First, your opponent is someone who doesn’t want the best for you, they don’t want to see you win. Whether this is for envious reasons or because they work with spirits that are not connected to the highest good of all, whatever it may be they don’t care about you or anyone else (some even attempt to lure in family).
Signs to look out for (if they are operating unhealthily) when you’re in another’s energy that is doing spiritual work is:
- They don’t have a real community. They make it look like they do but it’s really just the people working for them showing up and others coming in and out of the space. They have no real community and honestly, they don’t care for it.
- They tell you they’ll help you with certain things but they keep telling you this and making no moves on the ways they say they’ll help you. This is a way that they keep you connected long enough until you are at rock bottom (Which I hope you don’t ever have to go through). This is why it’s important to note early if they are simply all talk.
- They make you feel supported by them but don’t really offer anything. They’ll check in with you just enough to get information about you and help you with resources but only enough to get you by. Then there will come a day where they won’t need your help so no more resources for you. It’s a slick game they play. It’s a form of control. You have to be really careful about who you accept help from in spiritual spaces.
- They attempt to manipulate you by talking about God or mentioning God but don’t have morals and values they follow (huge red flag).
When I discuss spiritual spaces, I am talking about spirituality outside of religion but please understand this can also fall under religion. I have had discussions with people who told me their religious church attempted to have them working for them almost 24/7. This gives cult -like energy.
Let me tell you right now, no healthy spiritual space, religious or not will ever have you overwork yourself. When any person attempts to do this to you it is because they don’t want you to be able to tap into your intuition. They feed off your energy being depleted. I do not care what type of pastor, leader, or guru they call themselves, if they want the best for you, they will not attempt to take your energy away. Your energy is your life force.
Your solitude, your alone time, your me time is valuable. It is the time to connect to yourself and to source. They know this, they know you can connect more to source through having more time for self. Always make time for yourself.
Please tread carefully in any space you connect to spiritual or religious, you have to have your own sense of self and of saying yes this resonates or no this doesn’t and walk away when you feel those small intuitive nudges. Listen to yourself and your intuition.
